I just started the 12 minute bootcamp today (Intermediate). Let me give you a little background. I used to compete in figure competitions. Three years ago, I had surgery which put me out of commission for 6 weeks, then when I got back to the gym, I tore a calf muscle. After that I slowly started working out again but then started having chronic neck pain. i kept pushing through but it was not getting better. Next thing I know, I am laying off the gym totally and now here I am 30 lbs up and WAY the hell out of shape. I keep starting workout plans but can't seem to stick to them. You see, I feel discouraged and embarrassed in the gym because I am just not fit like I used to be. It is very depressing. I decided to try this and I think it's something I will be able to stick with and I will not have the defeated feeling I have in the gym. I am hoping that doing this for a couple of months, paired with clean eating will at the very least help me feel more fit and shed a few lbs. I know for the long term it won't get me where I want to be, but it's a start! I have no desire to compete anymore but I definitely want to be fit again! So here are my questions. How long before you started feeling like you were becoming more fit? How did you work through the soreness? I could not make it through the full 45 seconds of each exercise yet but I know that will come in time. Discouraging but I will keep plugging away!
I am right there with you, just starting again after surgery.... I was in okay shape prior, at least able to get through my workouts... I have really enjoyed this material so far.. my daughter got me started with Bodyrock. I understand the emotions regarding working out in the gym, thats why my daughter suggested this material :) I know if my be discouraging but keep up the good work !!!!!! One day at time and before you know it you will be feeling awesome !!!
Thanks for the reply. It's nice just to have some encouragement! I got through day 4 today. I am not always able to make the full 45 seconds but I know I will get there! I ordered some of the equipment too so it will be nice when that comes so I don't have to mod stuff as much.
Same here... I had surgery not too long ago. Doctors finally cleared me for all and any workouts/ exercises. But I feel the same as you do. I once was running 6 miles with ease, lifting weights, doing crossfit, thinking about competing in figure too. But I've been out of it so long that I just can't seem to find the drive I need to get back to the way things use to be.
I keep telling myself this is my challenge. This is happening to me because I can overcome this. I know what it takes to get back to the place I was. I can do this.
I did the RealTime 30 Day Challenge. Made it to day 3. OMG! Its scary awesome. lol!
Pushing through.
Don't get discouraged. Just keep pushing through. It is tough but you'll get there. I prefer working out at home as opposed to going to a gym. It is not going to happen overnight, but you will get there.
