Anyone know a workout similar for us pregnant gals?? Maybe something with modifications...was thinking I could just use beginners modifications. Also make sure I keep one foot on the ground at all times as I get bigger. I'd love to hear from those of you who continued their workouts and how you compensated!!
I worked out throughout my first pregnancy (I was very sick during the 2nd one) until the day before I gave birth. I was swimming 3 x / week & doing full body workouts 2 x / week. I went with the flow! Sometimes I was very tired, so I took it easier. As I got bigger, my balance changed but I kept challenging myself. You will also find yourself out of breath faster but it's normal, your heart is pumping way more blood. Again, go with the flow and listen to yourself... The last 6-8 weeks or so, I switched my abs work to mainly obliques and Kegels. I believe it helped a lot because I pushed for only 5 minutes (a big 9.3 pounds baby girl)!!
Hey thanks so much for writing me back. This is my third pregnancy!! How intense did you go? I have worked out for my last two right up to delivery. But it was more like General weight training and Zumba. Funny you mentioned out of breath bc I've been like than since day one. I don't remember it being that way!! I guess I'm just gonna keep going with this till I feel uncomfortable. Although it seems once upon a time there was a section called bodyrock baby for us pregnant "athletes". I came upon it while googling. Side note u are so lucky you only had to push for 5 mins. First time hr and half, second one hour. Fingers crossed this will be my 5 min push!! Also anyone heard of perfect pushing and the tupler method. Helps to train transverse abdominal to make pushing easier.
All pregnancies are SO different! I would say for the intensity the intermediate bootcamp with a few modifications. I heard once about a woman who completed an Ironman 2 weeks after giving birth! If you stay active during your pregnancy, chances are you'll bounce back faster after... Just listen to your body, it takes a lot of energy to build a little person!
I saw it too on Youtube (Bodyrock baby). I guess you could find a few videos there...
Again, I'm sure it all the Kegels! I was doing all sorts of contractions: the classic 1-2-3... , hold for 5-30sec. , go up the ladder: start with light up to strong then go back down... It was actually even easier with my son and he was 10.6 pounds :-S
Good luck to you for the Big day ;-)
